Verb Collocation 

Sebelum membahas mengenai verb collocation, kita terlebih dahulu mengenal apa itu collocation. 😃 Collocation is the combination of words that sounds natural to the native speaker. Collocation adalah gabungan kata-kata yang terdengar alami ditelinga penutur asli (orang yang menggunakan suatu bahasa sebagai bahasa ibu). 

Contoh dari collocation adalah sebagai berikut:

A piece of cake, walk on, book a flight, rent a car, etc.

Berbicara tentang gabungan kata, tidak semua gabungan kata bisa kita jadikan collocation. Seperti halnya jika kita menggabungkan cornflakes dengan orangejuice, tidak bisa cocok bukan? Cornflakes hanya bisa cocok dengan milk. 

Terdapat berbagai macam collocation. Collocation yang akan dibahas pada saat ini adalah Verb Collocation.

1. Verb + Noun

    Book + a flight

    Book + a hotel room

    Book + a table (at the restaurant)

    Rent + a car

    Rent + a motorbike

    Rent + a house/apartment

    Stay + at (home

    Stay + in (a country/state, eg. Canada)

    Stay + in (a place/building, eg. Hotel)

2. Verb + Noun

    Get    + to your place/house, etc

    Get   + a taxi

    Get + a bus

Example:
My family and I are planning to go to Bali next week. We would like to see my brother. He works there as a math teacher in a Senior High School. So my dad booked the flight. Because my brother stays in a small rent house so we decided to stay in a hotel and book a room there.
